Roadmap
Our vision for Lazy Football is driven by a clear roadmap, designed to ensure consistent growth, feature development, and player engagement.
Initial FFF Investment — January 2022
The idea of Lazy Football was born, together with the creation of the first community channels on Twitter and Discord. The project secured its initial funding from FFF (friends, family & followers), mainly early supporters from the founder’s existing crypto community, enabling the start of active development.
Genesis Collection Mint — May 2022
The genesis NFT collection, Lazy Alpha, was successfully minted. It formed the foundation of a private community that became the core testing and feedback group for future development phases.
Start of Game Development — June 2022
By this point, the foundation of the core game systems had been established: the match simulation engine, club infrastructure, economic framework, and early interface prototypes. The first full version of the Game Design Document (more than 200 pages) was also completed, outlining all major mechanics and the long-term vision for Lazy Football.
Lazy Staff Presale — April 2023
The presale of the Lazy Staff collection, the primary in-game NFT series, was conducted successfully. Private investors (FFF) acquired 70% of the 10,000 NFTs, providing essential financing for continued development and preparation for closed beta testing.
Closed Beta Launch — November 2023
Closed beta testing launched for community members. It allowed the team to test the core gameplay loop: infrastructure, player development, match simulation, economy, and UX, and gather extensive feedback for future improvements.
Open Beta Launch — April 2024
The Open Beta became available to all users on iOS and Android. Regular updates, balancing, UX improvements, and match engine refinements were introduced throughout the testing phase to support steady growth and user onboarding.
Mainnet Release — August 2024
Lazy Football transitioned from testnet to a fully operational mainnet environment, enabling real economic activity, NFT functionality, and full on-chain gameplay. As part of this launch, the game migrated from Arbitrum Sepolia to Arbitrum One. This milestone marked the beginning of the project’s live service phase.
Ambassador Program Kickoff — January 2025
The first ambassadors joined Lazy Football, marking the beginning of our creator-driven growth. We onboarded our first professional football players, who began producing football-themed videos for our TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram channels. Their involvement strengthened our social media presence, expanded audience reach, and helped shape the early content strategy for Lazy Football.
Lazy Football Rebranding — April 2025
A full rebranding was completed, transforming Lazy Soccer into Lazy Football. The update introduced a new visual identity, improved UX language, modernized branding, and unified messaging across all platforms, strengthening the game’s long-term positioning as a standalone Web3 football franchise.
Client Migration: Unity → React — July 2025
The client architecture was fully migrated from Unity to React. This transition enabled faster development cycles, improved performance, and greater overall stability. By fully removing Unity (a powerful engine but not the right fit for our product) we eliminated significant technical limitations and rebuilt the client in React, a technology far better suited for our long-term vision and platform needs.
Blockchain Migration: Arbitrum One → Base — November 2025
Lazy Football migrated to Base, the L2 network supported by Coinbase. This upgrade significantly reduced transaction costs, simplified onboarding, and integrated the project into the rapidly growing Base ecosystem, opening the door to native Mini-Apps and broader user acquisition channels.
Advanced Gameplay Enhancements — Ongoing
A continuous stream of gameplay improvements aimed at increasing realism, tactical depth, and long-term engagement. This ongoing work includes match engine upgrades, smarter player decision-making, expanded tactical systems, refined bonuses such as captain and home advantages, multi-position player mechanics, and many other enhancements that elevate the overall football simulation experience.
Base Mini-App Launch — Q1 2026
Launch of the official Lazy Football Mini-App inside the Base ecosystem. It will serve as a key onboarding channel, enabling seamless entry for mainstream users through simplified wallets and frictionless flows.
Onboarding Quests System — Q1 2026
A structured quest system designed to guide new users through early gameplay steps. It introduces foundational mechanics, rewards early progress, and increases user retention from day one.
NFT Players — Q1 2026
These are the same in-game players that users manage today. However, once a player reaches a Power of 400 or higher, users will gain the option to mint that player as an NFT. The NFT version preserves all of the player’s existing attributes and gameplay characteristics, but adds true on-chain ownership and the ability to freely trade the player as a digital asset. This introduces a new economic layer to Lazy Football without altering the core gameplay or progression systems.
PRO Subscriptions — Q2 2026
A monthly premium status that unlocks additional analytics, extended statistics, cosmetic upgrades, and various quality-of-life improvements. The PRO status is applied per club, allowing users with multiple teams to activate it individually for each one. Some advanced features, such as earning prize Scout Insights, may also be available exclusively to PRO users, providing meaningful long-term value without impacting competitive balance.
Season Passes — Q2 2026
A season-long premium pass purchased once per season, unlocking a daily sequence of rewards such as players and resources. The full reward track can be shown upfront, offering predictable value while retaining the appeal of daily progression. The Season Pass enhances retention, stabilizes revenue, and creates a clear seasonal structure for the game.
Multiple Teams per Account — Q3 2026
Players will be able to manage several teams within a single account. This expands strategic variety, encourages deeper engagement, and gives users more flexibility in long-term planning.
Clubs Secondary Market — Q3 2026
A marketplace where users can buy and sell entire clubs together with their progress and the in-club assets that belong to the team itself. Personal assets owned by the manager remain with the manager and are not transferred. This system enables true club ownership and creates a new layer of value within the Lazy Football ecosystem.
Badges & Achievements — Q4 2026
A long-term progression system where players earn badges, milestones, and visual achievements based on performance, progression, and seasonal results. This system strengthens player motivation and personal club identity.
